My Upanishadic Sweetie Pie 10 Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

My Upanishadic Sweetie Pie 10

Rating: 5.0

Few months passed by.
My little birdie became my daily morning visitor!
I no more called her my black and white friend.
I named her as 'Sweetie Pie'!
Sweetie Pie became my constant companion,
Specially the morning two hours,
When I thought, wrote,
Contemplated, erased and re-wrote!
Sweetie pie and i talked,
Sometimes, even argued!
An interesting partnership!

I just did not realise how time flew!
I completed hundred pages of my book.
All this time, she sat and watched me,
Quietly and solemnly!
I often wondered
Whether sweetie pie was the spirit of my mother or my father!

The seasons changed,
From bright summer to the threatening dark clouds!
Then the rains came!
At first, all welcomed the pouring relief of wet spell.
But not for long!
There was rain, rain and more rain!
I sensed the wrath of a disturbed environment.
My suspicion was confirmed when
My Sweetie Pie stopped visiting me.
Perhaps, she sensed a foreboding calamity
And flew away to a far off region!
The rains came down recklessly with
Lightning and thunder!
The trees shook with fright.
The branches swayed feverishly
A bizarre wind whistling loudly!

Just three days later,
I understood why my Sweetie Pie disappeared!
She had smelt the danger of an oncoming flood.
With her strong intuitive power
She had foreseen a major destruction!
The birds in unison echoed their fear in loud cries
And left the place for good. But not without a warning!
But the humans immersed in their own selfish activities
Ignored and turned a deaf ear to these cries!
In seconds, the angry waters came raging
Like a powerful Tsunami wave,
Entered the man-made territories,
Destroying and tearing,
Every bit of the man-made goods!

The fiery floods lasted just a day!
But it swept with it the toil of man.
It takes months to build a house,
But it takes years to make a cosy home!
All gone in such rapidity!
What devastation!
There was no time to think of my writing work
Nor becoming depressed about my lost books!
More important was to cope
And adjust to the new situation!
The Mother Nature teaches you.
She teaches you to grow with each experience.
She teaches you to accept things as they are.
Can a puny little man fight the powerful Nature?
