Not Every... - Poem by Ojimu Sunday David

Not everything said is heard
Not everything looked is seen
Not everything given is taken
Not every impression made is noted
Not every word spoken is meant
Not every ceremony is a party
Not every joke cracked is funny
Not every song is melodious
Not every relationship is based on mutual feelings
Not every emotion can be shared
And not every confession is from the heart
But this I will say to make me sane and less burdensome
To free my heart of this burden I have carried ever since I met you
By this I profess my undying Love and eternal devotion to you
It is now left to you to either send my feelings to the cemetery
Or oblige and let’s share my dream of an eternity of love
Just like the fairy tales and live happily ever after
Till you decide on what your response will be
You remain in me and I at the gates of your heart
Waiting to be given a pass into your heart or
Be sent down the aisle of loneliness
An eternal journey feeling betrayed by love
