On Hearing Heath Ledger Had Died

Rating: 5.0
A moment I wanted to arrest,
with cruel and swift precision.
A moment I wanted to rewind the clock.
A moment I wanted to stop from occurring
A moment my soul just dropped,

Plumetting to a sad and eerie place,
too difficult to desribe.
As I heard on the news that it's likely
to be something the Dr's prescribed.

It hit me like a tonne of bricks,
that today death visits it's chosen.
No sense, no reason. No warning given!
It left my soul barren.....
My heart frozen.

Cold to the point of disbelief.

Please let it not be drugs that severed the life.
Such promise it offered to give.
Please let it not be the demons
that tempt us not to live.

Please let it be some freak of nature
or some congenital disease,
So that my heart doesn't tear apart
with a grief that cannot be eased.

For a tortured soul that's misunderstood
Or totally misrepresented
For a character and heart too kind for this time,
Perhaps this could have been prevented.

For a natural event is beyond our touch
And in which some comfort can be found
But the other, we think we could have stopped
and the impact is cruelly profound.

But with the sadness and pain that the news brings today
It also endows us a gift
To love life as he did, humble and true
For the moment, is how we should live.

It's very tragic Vanessa, and you have described this tragedy very well, the world has lost a great talent at such a young age, Lynda
