Prometheus Poem by Rajnish Manga

Prometheus

Rating: 5.0

O Brave Titan! O Prometheus!
You stole from under the nose of Zeus.
Sacred Fire- A preserve of gods,
Gave it to humans by braving all odds.

Zeus warned Prometheus to retract,
But he was not the one to detract.
Zeus pronounced a punishment hard,
Prometheus didn't give in, was diehard.

The punishment Prometheus had got,
Ordained that his liver should face the rot,
A bird would eat it and feast every day,
Every day a new liver was there to stay.

And after a passage of big time-span,
Hercules, the Greek warrior-superman,
Came to know of Prometheus' ordeal,
He killed the bird to okay Titan's deal.

Greek mythology has much in store,
By way of stories coming from the yore.
We are overwhelmed by their range
An awesome world just for a change.

Rajnish Ji, with this beautiful poem you brought Prometheus myths and legends to the life again, there are many a things to learn from the heroics of Prometheus and the timely help by hercules (Heracles) . Indeed he is the symbol of good and bad in human life, and whose fashioning of humanity from clay was an Eastern motif. Nothing less than 10+++++++

I used to read Greek mythology when I was younger, and I think that the story of Prometheus stealing fire from Zeus is one of the best. Avery good poem.

It is so true. Mythology is an endless reservoir of interesting stories! Prometheus was so brave and clever that he stole fire from even while Zeus was looking on, defying Gods. But the punishment he suffered was too severe. He was tied to a rock and his liver was pecked at by an eagle everyday! You have beautifully narrated this mythological story! A 10
