One who is suppose to protect and serve
Aught to be courageous and compassionate
But a neurosis of fear and distrust runs
Through the veins of governing power
A fearful one in power knows only
How to intimidate, dominate and enslave
With out winning the confidence of their people
Such authority is not fit to govern.
A Powerful write on politics, those who are in power. Well written. Loved it.
Applicable to all those in power! The tactics of intimidating and enslaving others originate from a sense of fear and insecurity! People forget that rights entail responsibilities too! Powerful write!
Amen. There was a time when people in positions of power were expected to have the requisite VIRTUES, eg. a general or police officer needed courage, a teacher knowledge and patience, a nurse kindness and expertise. Now they are required to have a license - a sheet of paper What happened to the mental and even more MORAL preparation? These thoughts bounced through my as I read your poem.
With power comes great responsibility. Good judgement is imperative also, when one has power. When this is missing, indeed, such authority is not fit to govern. Well said, Savita.
