1. Clean the fish and remove all the scales from the skin.
2. Find a suitable-sized wooden plank on which to cook the fish, preferably a soft wood such as quaking aspen.
3. Liberally apply butter, lemon juice, salt, pepper and any special ingredients of your own choosing to the fish. I like lots of onion.
4. Place fish on plank in oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or longer, depending on the size of the fish.
5. Remove carp from plank.
6. Discard carp.
7. Eat plank.
