While cruising through the rugged sea of life
There are times, we feel we are cut by a knife
Like the sea, life changes with every turn
And quite often we feel the burn
Unexpected into life’s placid seas,
When the violent wind heavily blows,
The calm we experience would seem just a flash
And fear the vessel we are in may anytime crash
Lanterns get blown by the wind
With no gleam of light to be found
Many a time the tears that we cry
We can’t find why, however hard we try
Those whom we keep so close to our heart
May betray us and in our need, desert
Sometimes life appears so daunting
With dark thoughts haunting
There are times, we feel life is one of strife
With challenging threats and fears rife
How many times we feel so thoroughly spent
And wonder when such dark thought would end
When confronted by life’s crises
We feel we are slipping into a bottomless abyss
On our shoulders when life becomes a crushing load
To whom else shall we seek for aid, but the Lord?
When life flips over like an apple cart
To who else shall we raise our grief leaden heart?
Superb poem yet again with some thought provoking lines: On our shoulders when life becomes a crushing load To whom else shall we seek for aid, but the Lord?
I loved the rich imagery of the sea tossed up in this poem. Finally, as you have said it, when there is no one to support our drooping head, it is best to seek His divine help and support.
Life is a journey on the sea guided by the unexpected nature of waves. Yet man explores to see new shores and distant lands overseas. Uncertainties must be tackled time and again.
Rising tides of sea and of life beautifully compared, and the poem flows beautifully unlike the sea
Definitely dark thought would end here. Life should appear cheerfully. Lanterns get blown by the wind is very interesting and nice with imagery. Excellent poem. /10
You are on a poetic fury. How can I keep with you - you river of beauty?
nice rhyming poem citing the facts of life - enjoyed every line Mam. Wen we are down just look up to God, He is always there with us for our support and help in times of strife. well described the harsh realities of Life and their effects on us.
Yet again - I'm a part of this poem. From the beginning to the end I’m cruising through the lines and every word strokes me like I’ve resided or residing that life. You have meaning, you have feeling, you have genuine characters breathing in your words and poems.
