Set Me Free - Poem by Gordon Jerome

Here I sit and often wonder
Tell me lord what was my blunder
Did I love too deep or simply too fast
And why do my feelings continue to last
Take away from me this forever love I feel
And help my broken heart to begin to heal
Remove my sense’s of being lost and alone
Take away her feelings of love I’ve known
Strip away the memories we together shared
Help me to forget that for me she once cared
Keep the sound of her voice from these ears
For it only brings on another flood of tears
Keep her lovely beauty from this mans sight
And remove her from my thoughts at night
Promise me lord to keep her safe and sound
Help her be happy in the life’s she’s found
She was the one in life that meant all to me
But now please of her memories set me free
“closing thought”
May your days be filled with the one love you sought
May they always be near and never lost just to thought
