It's true, I was idealistic when I was young
I saw everything in black and white
But now, everything's gray and complex
I fought for the seals and whales
And for justice for all
Blame the white man who stole the land
From indigenous peoples around the world
That's when I was young
Now, things are worse
The oceans are filled with plastic
And HIV is still rampant in Africa
Maybe, it's my generation's fault
Because we grew up greedy and not caring
As people like me matured tired and sad
Would be put on Zoloft to hide our disappointment
Finding it would be a long time that we would find
There's nothing is easy and gave up so soon
I hope these future generations would take the flame
Challege the status quo of equal pay for equal work
Conquering the diseases that kill us everyday
And stop the violence against LGBT community that hurts us all
As we replant the rainforest that we are destroying
By the minute
And if we are able, I hope my generation would
Smart up
And help
A powerful and moving poem. The youth are the builders of tomorrow. We hope there will be a better world for them
A great concern for the conservation of the environment, flora, fauna and of course, man too.
A fine and lofty verse, very powerfully and movingly penned with deep insight.
LeeAnn, the youth of today is fighting like to address some of the issues and causes that you had fought for. But they are doing it in more subtle ways. And some, not so subtle. And I pray every day for their success!
Beautiful, beautiful poem speaking out for the environment, justice, youth and peace! .. May this inspire each reader, each heart! .. Definite 5 Stars! ..+++++
a cry straight from a caring heart---if there were more hearts like yours, perhaps we could have saved our planet---what an odd thing that humanity has done---destroyed the only home we have in the universe

I would like to translate this poem
Too true leeAnn, each gemeration comes with the promise of doing something good, and yet the greater powers and forces of industry and indifference of society ensure that there is not much change. But each little action can make things slightly better.
