That Special Glow
When people look at him and me,
They think we are a pair
But things are not as they appear,
And life is so unfair.
I'm in the presence of someone
For whom I do not care.
When all I want is time with you,
Your company to share.
I'd much prefer to dream of you
Than spending time with him.
You have my very heart, it's true
While he is just a friend.
I don't know what else I can do
To make you see the light
I'm sad and lonely, and I'm blue
All day, and every night.
I'm only passing time with him
I think you ought to know
That you're the man who causes me
To feel that special glow
And I won't let him hold my hand
Or hug or kiss me, so
I need us like we were before,
So I can let him go.
At best, he's a poor substitute
That's all he'll ever be.
We need the hugs we used to share,
The joy of you and me.
