The Chestnut Trees Of May Poem by ANDREW BLAKEMORE

The Chestnut Trees Of May

Rating: 5.0

Now spring has blessed this waiting land
I look upon the village Croft,
And see the chestnut trees of May
With blossom flowers of white,
Row on row they proudly stand
Adorned in all their majesty,
And all the glories of the earth
Could make no better sight.

The scent of new mown grass does float
Upon the early morning breeze,
As I now make my way across
This vast and shadowed field,
I rest upon a wooden bench
And all-alone I calmly sit,
To take in all the beauty there
The season now does yield.

While birds do sing in dulcet tone
Within the might blossomed boughs,
I listen to each song of joy
That fills the sapphire sky,
Amid the chestnut trees of May
I find a peace that does surround,
As there I dwell a little while
And watch the day go by.

Wow, Andrew, another wonderful write. Great imagery, If I close my eyes, I can almost see myself resting on that wooden bench and taking in this great scene. Excellent piece, my friend. Richard
