The Duty Poem by Parameswaran Nair Damodaran Nair

The Duty

Rating: 5.0

Flowers bloom and stay in gleam
And then fall down in utter gloom
Grieves none but Life and Beauty
Being destined ever transient

On the sobbing Mother Earth's bosom
The dead fallen flowers lay scattered
With petals quivering in the breeze's sigh
And wet with the night's tears fallen on

Unaware of what takes place
New flowers bloom by morning
With a pot of honey and pollen with them
To feed the hungry and fulfil the life-mission

Thank you very much dear Bharaati Nayak for the comments. Flowers bloom and fall. Caring not the fate new ones bloom so as to provide everything, the beauty, the fragrance, the honey to the needy and to make them happy being the duty assigned to them

Such a beautiful poem on life and death. We must spread our fragrance of good manners and kindness like flowers do their beauty and essence. Flowers live for a short time but give the honey to the bees and birds and beauty to the onlookers. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you dear poetess. Every life on eart is assigned with some sort of duty or other. Its the flowers that have to give us beauty, fragrance and honey. The duty is being carried out without stop by a cycle of life.
