The Leading Edge In Red Poem by Susan Williams

The Leading Edge In Red

Rating: 5.0

.
crimson nights
crimson rains
medieval trees
casting shadows
across
a toxic romance
clocked upside the head
.
crimson nights
crimson rains
a shock wave of
screaming in the night
and no one came running
no one calling the cops
not even the cop's wife next door
.
crimson nights
crimson rains
cop's wife calling the next morning
saying she had heard
and you should call somebody for help
just another kind of crimson shock wave
compassion being just a silent eavesdropper sitting by
.
crimson nights
crimson rains
after the room is wiped down,
life is lived in an upside down kingdom
that makes little sense
but they said you made your bed
so lie in it
.
The leading edge in red
and the trailing edge in blue
desperate hand on the phone
shock waves in the night
a loud "crack"
a snapping noise
the leftovers of his violence
.
Those were the nights
the dark crimson nights
when crimson reigned
and rained supreme
and cast dark shadows
across
a toxic romance

The abuse of serial offenders stands before those who do nothing constructive. A excellent poem that does something positive to expose these criminals. Thank you Susan for your beautful comments.

Thank you for reading and thinking about abuse and how often we miss the signs or blame the victim for not getting free
