The Joy Chronicles--Part Four Poem by Susan Williams

The Joy Chronicles--Part Four

Rating: 5.0

.
I Count It Joy When I Hear
the mourning doves nestling side by side on the telephone line
calling to each other
with their throaty love words
throbbing through the soft morning air...
.
I Count It Joy When I Hear
my beautiful black horse
nickering softly to me
with his loving huh-huh-huh
and large dark eyes in which his soul glows
.
I Count It Joy When I Hear
the lonely train whistle yearning
its way down the tracks
clackety-clacking into my night from the hazy distance
disappearing from my night into the hazy distance
.
I Count It Joy When I Hear
a child at play
laughing at the ball he tried to catch
swinging on the swing set and shouting higher, higher
jumping up and down in the mud puddle calling for Mom to join in
running to Daddy coming home from work giggling Daddy Daddy Daddy
.
I Count It Joy When I Hear
the voices in the river flowing by
the words whispered by the wind
the sound of rain pattering on the roof
the sound of geese overhead returning through the miles
.
I Count It Joy When I Hear
The Lord talking to me in the Bible
God answering my prayers be it yea or nay
Jesus speaking to my heart when my courage fails
The small quiet voice of God during the day.
.
I Count It Joy When I Hear.

I like all stanzas very very much, but the most I like is your final stanza, so full of peace and honesty. Truly a stanza to my heart. I know you too as an excellent horse lover and rider.5 Stars!

that's great when counting the Joy by the un-counting love; when life is rapturous there, where joyous love summons the life in one seraphic canopy

Susan this is a very beautiful poem on positivity that's all around us. The closing stanza is really hopeful. Those small hopeful voice is really helpful.

Hey, Susan, I was attracted by the title then read your four joy poems. There's much, it seems to me, in their simplicity—simple enough for children to understand but food for us adults. I like em. Hoping you're well, Glen
