मूल अंग्रेजी कविता: माया एंजिलो
हिंदी रूपांतरण: रजनीश मंगा
मैं बार बार मृत्यु को गले लगाती हूँ.
धमनियाँ फटने को हैं, खुलती ऐसे वह जैसे हों
छोटी छोटी हथेलियाँ
सोते बच्चों की.
पुराने मकबरों की याद,
गला सड़ा मांस और कीड़े भी मुझको
इन चुनौतियों से विमुख नहीं कर पाते हैं.
बीत गए कई वर्ष पराजय की यह ठंडक
मेरे चेहरे पर ही चिपक गई है जैसे.
मेरी आँखों को कर देतीं बोझिल, लेकिन फिर भी
मैं मृत्यु को गले लगाया करती हूँ,
क्योंकि मैं जीना चाहती हूँ.
I keep on dying again.
Veins collapse, opening like the
Small fists of sleeping
Children.
Memory of old tombs,
Rotting flesh and worms do
Not convince me against
The challenge. The years
And cold defeat live deep in
Lines along my face.
They dull my eyes, yet
I keep on dying,
Because I love to live.

For some people on this earth, thingsare so bad. Negative circumstances are so overwhelming, Only the poet could articulate about that, and nicely indigenised in hindi.. Hindi is very flexible offering a word, expression for all situations.bojhil eyes.
