The Lure Of Lucre Poem by Sandra Martyres

The Lure Of Lucre

Rating: 5.0

Money they say
Entices almost everyone
Especially those who believe
That unless they have it in plenty
They are lesser humans
For them, in the early stages
The hard work may seem like fun
When raking in the moolah
In the form of higher wages
But that could change
All too soon when greed
Begins to take over
When the lure of lucre
Becomes difficult to ignore
When they just stop living
And focus only on earning
Never mind if it is ill-gotten
Leaving them no time or energy
For their folks back home.
The families feel the change
And begin to yearn
For the days long gone
When there was less lucre
But more time and affection
For sharing with one and all

When they just stop living And focus only on earning Never mind if it is ill-gotten Leaving them no time or energy For their folks back home. The families feel the change And begin to yearn For the days long gone When there was less lucre But more time and affection For sharing with one and all.....very rightly said....superb text...kindly read my money poems at leisure Sandra.....yours is a poem of importance.....thank you

People think it would be so lovely to be rich; they don't realize it brings a lot of responsibilities, and that the money owns you and it tells you how to spend much of your time; and attracts deadly leeches sometimes. Thanks for telling it like it is.

Sandra, you are so right about the lure money can bring. In the end it becomes a god to them and nothing else matters and so easily forgotten are the good times, good friends and happy family they had before it came along. A really great write my friend. Top marks plus and thank you for sharing it with us. Hugs David

sandra...you have brought outa very good subject...we did start with material to material..and now hoarding with excess money...if the swiss bank has 3 times our countries liability as its deposit...how can we call our country a poor country..man has to consciously question money's importance

You put what is happening so wisely in this perceptive poem of yours Sandra. The 'getting' destroys the family 'giving'. Without time and love families cannot thrive. In this throw away society, love gets thrown away too readily too! Top marks! love Karin

money matters.............and swindle, roll, life, family all in all.........perception of money differs.......your bringing out the concept is beautiful.......

As your fine poem quite aptly states, Sandra, it is nice to be wealthy but with that wealth comes changes which are not always pleasant or acceptable to friends and relatives. The abundance of money certainly changes most people, gives them a totally different perspective on life, and that is very well stated in this excellent poem. Carl.

the people who live for money should stop and ask themselves...what am I earning this money for? what do I really want to get from it? and am I getting it? ....greed is an addiction...if they don't know the answer yet, they're still in denial....
