The Open Cage Poem by Akhtar Jawad

The Open Cage

Rating: 5.0

Doors of the cage were not closed,
I could easily go out through the windows,
I tried again and again but I could not fly.

One day I gathered my all courage and jumped down,
My wings did their best but far away were the skies,
Though I have been injured but I loved my try.

For the whole day I lied on the floor,
Crawling I hid myself in the hole of a broken wall,
The dogs and cats looked at me with a never ending greed.

In the evening my master anyhow found me there,
He took me up and applied an ointment on my injuries,
I am the love of my lonely master and my master is my need.

Brilliant poem Akhtar Sahab! Just like the bird, who jumped out of the cage and injured itself, we humans too, at times, try to run away from our secure home. Only when we are hurt, we realise how much we need the support of our family or the master who takes care of us. The last line says it all. Full stars for the Master Poet.

A lovely poem.I can well relate to this poem.A parrot is kept in a cage with love and care. There is a bond of love between the master and the pet.Though the blue sky outside is quite alluring, it is not safe for the pet parrot which is quite accustomed to the small space of the cage and its wings have forgotten the art of flying.

You are the love of your lonely master. You feel the time as open cage. Doors are opened and windows are too. But many of us are inside home due to Corona fear. During shut-down and lock-down many of us were inside home which was like an open cage. You have gathered courage and jumped down. You have crawled with time and won the joy. Love for life makes you master...5 stars rating.
