The Pen And The Poet Poem by Asavri Dhillon

The Pen And The Poet

Rating: 4.6

Is there any relation between a pen and a poet?
Only a pen knows,
Not the poet.

The pen knows,
Because it's being used.
The poet does not,
Because his mind is fused.

Poet's mind is fused in his poetry,
Pen's body, is in touch,
With the poet's mind's dictionary.
This is how the pen knows the relation,
Not the poet,
Whose mind is in the poetry...

Everyone must be stopped from being used.
Or else,
Users will be the puppets,
Of their Do's.

A lovely well penned piece of poetry. I like the articulation and insight of the poem as it captured its essence and the poet's conviction. A beautiful poem indeed. Thanks for sharing and do keep it up.

Nowadays, a pen has been rendered redundant by the upcoming technology. Previously, the poets used a quill to write poetry, then a pen and now he uses the keyboard of his computer/ laptop/cellphone. A more recent technology is G-board instead of the keyboard, which can type by voice detection through the internet. One doesn't need to type, s/he can type simply by speaking the words!

This was recommended to me by my friend, Pam Sinicrope. And I shall thank her now for that. I've just included another of your poems about your Grandfather in my list of favourites. I do have a feeling that if the pen isn't right my poems won't come out. We must recognize the teamwork involved. I believe it is very real. Oddly enough mine is now my laptop. The sketches only take shape when I start typing out the rough notes and I begin to see the shapes more clearly. I hope that doesn't sound silly to you. This is another in my favourites ' list. I shall watch your progress with great interest. Pam is right to recognize your talent.

As artists we say a an artist is only as good as their tools. A Poet, is more independent from their pen, more cerebral. But you have personified that pen; made it an assistant to the poet. Something about the caress of those fingers. Lovely words, lovely poem! As Pamela said keep writing!

What an interesting philosophical delight you've presented! The relationship between poet and pen has been long thought about, written about, talked about. What took your poem to a higher level, in my opinion, is the final closing stanza. You really do have quite a talent. I hope you will keep writing, posting, and submitting your work. Well done, Asavri.
