The Pride Of Our Past Poem by Hazel Durham

The Pride Of Our Past

Rating: 5.0

Our past is present now and always,
Smiles, pain, joy, comfort and lies
All part of our history of those days
Days in the sun,

Days in the dark,
The beauty of nature like the sweet sound of a lark,
Friends now gone
Gone too soon just so wrong,

My mum and dad are never gone they live on with the rhythm of my words,
The song is never too long,
Their song is sung through the darkness
Through the lightness,

Their lives in a spotlight of eternal brightness,
Peace, love, comfort and support from their loving eyes,
Bringing hope to our future
Like forever changing skies,

We don't hide from sickening lies,
But rejoice at the pride of our past,
As time rolls on gathering love from our beautiful cast
Of family and friends living on in our hearts as years fly by so fast,

Time stands still and bows in respect and love for our mighty past.

Hazel, this is one of the finest tributes to parents and friends ever. And, of course, the past! Such an excellent write! And such a pleasure in returning to your poetry!

Though our parents have moved away from our sight, they live ever green in our memory and we relive the past every now and then. Mind is the fastest means of conveyance and we scuttle often from present to past and from past to present! Thus past is revived through us! Powerful write..... Hazel!

Yes Hazel, past or future, now or then, nothing dies. All of them amalgam in the present moment. Our parents, their loving memories, their dreams cherished or unfulfilled, everything resides in us. You have crafted a powerful poem filled with pure passion for pride and nostalgic past. Thanks dear for the sharing.

Achingly beautiful, Hazel. You are wise- -our parents really don't die, do they. They live on in us- the way we talk, the way we clean the house, the way we laugh at the dinner table and talk and explore each others day... yes, you made me realize this. 10++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
