The Prince And The Pearl Poem by Hazel Durham

The Prince And The Pearl

Rating: 5.0

She is on the hard road of mood swings
Darkness invading her green eyes,
Her untamed wild auburn hair springs into curls,
She wishes for poker straight hair,

She is looking for a prince of light as he will care,
For a tortured soul,
Her prince will turn her into a princess so fair,
She will then look into the mirror with pride not shame,

Her hair catches the dying light of day like a flame,
She listens to the song of the mighty Atlantic ocean,
Blue darkness of the winter light filtering the colours,
She walks in it's shallow waters to feel the icy cold,

Shivering with fear her small feet sink into the wet sand,
America calls her name across the wide expanse,
Calling her to his homeland,
Leaving her dad now passed and her best friend her mam,

Leaving cold stark reality behind to find her man,
She will fly to New York,
To meet her man of fame,
She will never again feel any shame,

As her hair coils and springs into untamed curls,
The prince will find his pearl,
Pearl of the mighty Atlantic ocean,
With flames of emotions,

The land of freedom throws her a lifeline,
The prince and pearl will find their time
For love and kindness in their prime.

A very strong deep tale of sadness and yearning Hazel but it is also filled with hope and new found energy for better days to come. A very inspiring write for the New Year ahead. Have a good one Hazel! Kind regards, Mick.

Dreams are good. Without dreams, nothing would ever be accomplished. Very nice poem, Hazel. However, Bri Edwards is correct. In line 12 the word should be ITS instead of IT'S. Change that and your poem is nearly perfect.

She's not looking for you, Bri. Nobody is looking for you except the IRS, the county sheriff, and the California Highway Patrol. Hahahahahahahah!

Nice flow of the story is drawn with touching expression. Though there is sadness and yearning yet there is hope of nice days and freedom. Let it be quoted. . . As her hair coils and springs into untamed curls, The prince will find his pearl, Pearl of the mighty Atlantic ocean, With flames of emotions, The land of freedom throws her a lifeline, The prince and pearl will find their time For love and kindness in their prime. Thanks for sharing.
