The Song Of Breavement Poem by Yasmin Khan

The Song Of Breavement

Rating: 5.0

Ah! Today’s misty morning plays sad notes
On life’s lyre, the dove’s distant coo
The wail of the kite, the nightingale’s twit-too
In the lurid sky float

The moonless evening creeps
The stars hang in the murk of heavenly arch
Gloom on the dusky crests softly perch
As woe silently from each bough drips

The melancholy waters flow
I see soft-stealing tears apace
Pursuing each other on the mourner’s face
Grief-stricken sans life’s glow

How many times Death’s stylus’s engraven
The stories of passing and bereavement
On the life’s tablet, no atonement
For love, life, joys smitten

Grim reaper! How blindly you sway your scythe
To harvest blooms and crops
Life’s promises and props
Of mothers, fathers, husbands and wives

O dear mourner! Let your pain into memories melt
Pine not for breathless mound of clay
And let not languish darken your day
Light up the patience’s lantern like those who-
to Providence knelt

Yes, this is life as you say: love, joys, sadness, and a short happiness sometimes. You are observing well.

Nature is the same everyday. When sadness shows up, nature reflects it. Nicely brought out. Thank you.

My condolence! it's very naturally written Yasmeen, though the mourner does not understand at that moment but it is true as you said: Light up the patience’s lantern like those who- to Providence knelt
