The Suit Case Is Empty - Poem by Lyn Paul

The suit case is empty
Baggage unloaded
Carried this load
On this road
So Long

Heavy it was
Carried it alone
Held life in my hands
The weight on my shoulders

Passed many stops
Yet never found the exit
Faced an explosion of hurdles
Until only now

Found the padlock
Took hand to the zip
That buzzi sound
A burst of life
Released

Out went the marriage
All the in laws
Out went the rope
No longer tied to the floor

Freedom
A simple word
It now fills my suitcase
Now a weightless load

A word that means
So much, to so many
For many different reasons

May we all be free
Free to live
A life without baggage, weights and sinkers

I liked it, I may be wrong but here in the UK baggage can sometimes mean getting rid of a bad marriage or simply children off to Uni now.
I will have to read it again for some clues...

lovely poem and yes, we all would like to live our life without burden, without baggage on our shoulders...nicely related to a suitcase, a weightless load (Report) Reply

A lovely poem Lyn. Can't remember freedom myself, but it sounds great.
Release me from the shackles and chain,
    Let me be myself again.

Carrying the load with empty baggage to reduce tension on journey of life in wise and interesting road is very fantastic seems to be humorous to present many things in one fold. Carrying heavy load by hand is also a common practice in life. Although freedom is a simple word still it has deepness and this makes us realize life very well. Interesting poem shared definitely...10 (Report) Reply
