The Venetian Moonlight Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

The Venetian Moonlight

Rating: 5.0

The haunting music drove my tears to drift
Remembering us in Venice
As we listened to the gondolier sing a ballad of love
Yr arms were wrapped around me
The moon shimmered against the waters
And the breeze gave us a cool touch
Then, the dawn reached us,
But we were too aroused to sleep
As we walked around in a palazzo looking for
A place to eat
Our minds were elsewhere
By noon, we were falling asleep
And returned to the hotel to rest in a bed
That was sinking to the floor
So, we could listen to the ballad, once again,
In the glistening Venetian moonlight
How I miss those days of being carefree
And wish to be there with you once more
