To All My Poemhunter Friends Comments

Rating: 0.0

As you know, I have not been well of late after being rushed into hospital last Thursday 4 October 2007 as the result of a Transient Ischaemaic Attack (TIA) , which stimulates the symptoms of a stroke. I had five in on Thursday. My left hand side went numb each time. They lasted only five minutes at a time. It was due to lack oxygen to the brain. However, I had to have an x-ray done on my brain. The results came back yesterday and they indicated that during the TIA attacks I actually did suffer a mild stroke. Although I have not suffered any real damage to the brain, I am at times left very tired. This is one reason why I have not been reading much of late. Having said that I am missing all my friends at PH very much.

I want to thank everyone for their marvellous support and prayers. It is only when times like this occur that you find what wonderful friends you have. You may never see their faces, but the thought of them being there for you is very comforting indeed. It is something in the forty odd years of writing I had never experienced before. I am going to come back from today and read maybe one or two poems a day and comment on them. When I get tired, I will obviously come away. I am going to try to get around to everyone I know up here and at least read one of their poems. It is impossible to do that all in one day, so you will have to bear with me.

Hello, I hope you also consider me a friend though we can never meet! Meggie is a close friend in PH just like many other poets. She loves and praise your poems just like many of us in PH. Your poems are classical depicting the many faces of life, its one brings encouragement, hope, love, etc. Many lessons are learned from your writes. At your age now, you still grows old gracefully giving us and the readers in PH much pleasures, . Your wit and passion in writing will be my guide in improving my style. Please take good care of yourself as we all care for you too. God bless David.

David, I am just meeting you through your poems. All I can offer you is that my wife experienced TIAs several years ago. It is emotionally disconcerting because the doctors can't tell you when or if you'll experience another one. That doesn't help your stress level that I'm sure your doctors have told you you are supposed to lower. My good news is she hasn't experienced any in the past three years and was back up to her normal speed in a couple of months. I wish you the best in recovery and look forward to you regaining your strength to review some of my work. Tom J. Mariani

David, No, I didn't know, and was shocked to read this. This sort of thing can happen to any one of us but when it happens to a member of the family or a dear friend (as you are) it's doubly worrying. Take it very easy, David, get lots of rest and don't worry about getting back to us. Just think of yourself for once. You will be in my thoughts....... Love to you, David, and to Vera who I know is your rock.. Fran xxx

Oh my God, David! ! I'm so sorry! I hope you feel better very soon, I pray for you. I'm sorry I haven't been here to check in on you, having no idea that this is what you've had to endure... very scary stuff, but with the right medication, medical care and your family and friends, you will be on the mend! Big hugs to you, I know you'll pull through this like a champ! Lee

Dearest David, What a scare you must have had! I know my Mum suffered similar attacks for years and they really frightened the sh...t out of her. I'm so glad you've recovering so well and I'm sure your positive attitude (to yourself and life in general) will be an important ingredient in your complete return to 'normal'. Thanks so much for letting us all know. I'm sure we all appreciate the effort needed to post this. You are an important contributor to Poemhunter and we all really appreciate your wise words and your compassionate and unpretentious love of life. Kisses and hugs, Allie xxxx

Hey there! . I have only just heard your news and am extremely sad to think that you have been unwell and 'brainwashed' Ha! Now you take things easy, it is very easy to speed along getting momentum, but as one gets older one has to pace oneself. Don't worry about your poems coming on at a slower rate, mine do now, and one is more likely to get one read anyway, with all these other poets hugging the poem list. Ha! I shall keep an eye open for your writes, and comment accordingly, with kind words to sooth the brain! All my love to you and Vera. And a hug for you both too. Love and hugs Ernestine XXX

Dear David, since meeting you and your lovely wife in June at Stratford, I have come to find a place in my heart for you both. May you recover quickly and both enjoy the sincere delight of your love for each other for many years to come. You sound like you need deep breathing exercise like yoga or Tai Chi. Read my, The Fine Art poem. It is about the breath of life itself. Take your time, recovery depends on it. Smiling at you, hug from Tai
