Bel Gav

Tomorrow - Poem by Bel Gav

I close my eyes as i lay my head on the pillow,
thoughts of this day runs through my mind;
What a wonder it is to carry something with me,
something meaningful -
as i leave this waking world for yet another while...

I walked out my home this morning,
with the sun caressing my face;
I saw a toothy smile of a six-year-old child,
it made me smile
as this downcast spirit of mine, it raised.

The ride to work was uneventful,
before the cab driver spoke a word;
An elderly man who haven't slept a wink,
who told me stories
of how he fought for love as he could.

I arrive at work,
not a minute too soon,
The boss smiles his smile
a smile so sweet
a smile that had most 'men'
swoon..: -)

Saturdays are often a slow day,
where work is scarce and office mates at play;
Emails overflowing with niceties & laughter
count the hours in between
to a full lunch - our own happy hour.

With stomachs filled,
we returned to our tasks,
Minds a-floating,
that it was finally near dusk...

When break came,
off we were once again;
We sang a lively tune for a friend
and she blew just the cake
for candles were missing..: -)

The gaiety extended
all throughout the day;
And as i punched out to leave,
with a warm smile,
the guard said 'good day! '

Now as I lay here in the dark
tomorrow just became so bright, is wonderful...
this thought i bring with me to sleep
and will keep me going once more at first light.
