You Smell Like Poem by Eric Cockrell

You Smell Like

Rating: 4.6

you smell like....
your skin, your hair,
your gentle touch;
your eyes that have loved,
and lost many a battle.
your fierce heart wrapped
around your children, your dogs.
your sadness weeping
with every step you take.
your ashes remembering fire,
your fire that burned down,
sweeping away all that was,
and dared to be...
your dancing soul crippled
by shadows that haunt.
your wings of flesh and feather...

you smell like... me!

Ha, great writing, I love the descriptions of loss, that is beaten again and again and won't give up.

Geez Eric, you continue yo amaze me with your words. You have fast become one of the most significant poets of my generation and all you write just flows so naturally as if the one interrupted thought. And it's not only that but it's the impact you leave in what you say. Grateful as ever I am to be privy to your poems.
