Your Eyes - Poem by Caryn WelbySolomon

I look into your eyes
And I see something deep and meaningful
Why do you have to dumb yourself down?
Why do you try and act so shallow?
You are different to the rest of them
You are an original - not a copy
Thats why I fell in love with you
I never wanted one of them
Them that cheat on their girlfriends
Them that drink themselves into fools every weekend
They never brighten my day they way you do

When I look into your eyes
I see the real you
The boy behind the mask
Just like you, are not like the other boys
I'm not like the other girls
I didn't fall for you because of your striking good looks
Or your ice-melting smile.
I fell for your humour, your honesty, your heart
But one day you will be an original
And follow your heart instead of what your friends say.
One day you won't be afraid
To show the real you
The one I always saw, hiding behind those eyes
