A Poem To Mother Marija Poem by Walter W. Safar

A Poem To Mother Marija

Rating: 5.0

As recently as yesterday, my mother lived,
As recently as yesterday, the northern wind
Whispered to my mother brotherly
Of its thousand years of wandering and solitude,
And today my mother died.
Tomorrow, her dear friend shall arrive,
The proud wind,
Bringing a flower
To lay it down on her silent chest,
To honor my mother's soul,
Which now - in its mooric purity -
Flies off to the higher sacred realms,
To scatter its love like crystal shells
On the face of a purple autumn day,
Along which all the sorrows and pains
Of your children stream.

And now, mother,
The time of departure and recognition has arrived:
The stars say that a life without love and compassion
Is but invisible and forgettable - merely a tread of ghastly feet,
Which are unable to leave a trace in sand or in the human heart -
I know and I feel it, mother,
That no wind or time
Could ever wipe away your traces,
Because, mother, your life was filled with renouncement and sacrifice.
Yes, mother,
You are the once and future light in the darkness of despair,
An angel who existed prior to arriving in heaven,
And got its wings,
Like the mother of my beloved snowflake Snjezana,
And so many other mothers
Who, while still alive, where to their children
The same you were to yours:
A light amidst the thick forest of human hipocracy,
A sun at the heart of the cold system;
Yes, I know and I feel it, mother,
Mother of humanity and mankind,
You are leaving this world with a smile,
Because your pure mooric soul
Flies off to those higher sacred realms
Where endless love rules.

I dedicate this poem to my mother Marija and to all the mothers around the world. This poem was written in immense pain and sorrow and, by God, it might have driven me down to my knees, broken and taken my will to live, but my love for my beloved snowflake Snjezana, and for poetry, have kept me alive.

I humbly pray before our beloved Lord for these verses to be spread from soul to soul along the white heavenly fields by the soul of my dear departed mother and her angelic wings, because everything is transient, save the soul, which is eternal.(Walter William Safar)

This is a great tribute poem brilliantly penned. An excellent expression of emotion is seen here. The proud wind has brought a flower for her to greet with love and peace. Mother of humanity and mankind is great to smile and bless all of us. Her soul is tender and love is endless....10
