Recall all the sweet moments in life
Those that you want to re-live again
Sure there are a million of them
Joyous and sweet, exciting and engaging
Let us freeze those moments in time
Too precious to go off our heart
They make life worth living
And give each fresh day a kick start
In our mad rush for power and pelf
Many such moments skip by unnoticed
Moments of great beauty and grace
And wonders that still lie undisclosed
Have you forgotten to laugh over a prank?
Have you stopped watching a lovely scene?
Have you evaded a gregarious company?
Have you failed to enjoy a savory cuisine?
Break free of the ropes that bind
Let loose the spirit within
Shed out your dry reticence n' reserve
Let your geniality, many hearts win
Crack a joke, laugh out loud
Wear a smile, walk an extra mile
Chill out, lose in the beauty of the dusk
Praise someone without any guile
No matter you are seventy or seventeen
Still spry enough to have frolic and fun
Youthful enough to cherish hopes and dreams
For life affably beckons and is not done!
Great advice for joyful living, and worth the try. I feel the joy just in reading this. Thanks.
Crack a joke, laugh out loud Wear a smile, walk an extra mile Nice recipe for happy life. Thank you.
A beautiful recipe for joyful-living dish! Happiness is a choice: one creates one's own joy of living. I love these lines: Break free of the ropes that bind Let loose the spirit within Shed out your dry reticence n' reserve Let your geniality, many hearts win Great write!
Very inspiring indeed.......Valsa......redeem the time, moments wasted not in slothfulness and folly, live every moment as if the last not in haste but in acts of love, mercy and prayer........great write as always
There is such a wealth of good advice in this poem I had to share it on my 'Be Happy Cartoons' facebook page.
valsa, i was looking to see if you had submitted a God's Kind Of Poetry poem for brian johnston's september poem CHALLENGE contest. the contest needs something from you to balance off my blasphemous entry. but, not finding what i was looking for, i'll read this one, which may help me a bit in my hedonistic (a word i pulled from somewhere in my mini-brain) pursuits. reticence n' reserve....well, although i've proof that reticence and reserve are synonyms, i'll let you use both of them here. BUT DON'T LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN! i see that many poets have already beat me to the (comment) punch! i feel sorry for them, as they may never read my comment here, unless i send it to them; i have no time for that! :) pelf! what a great word. it is another one i've never heard of. and goes nicely with power. scene/cuisine.............cute, and right up my alley! to sum up my feelings about the poem: very encouraging for readers, unless of course they are shut-ins with no fond memories. my favorite stanza: Break free of the ropes that bind Let loose the spirit within Shed out your dry reticence n' reserve Let your geniality, many hearts win ................this is THE FINE RECIPE. unfortunately not all cooks have the ingredients or skills needed to follow it. but thanks for offering it. bri :) p.s. i send now to MyPoemLIst.
I've saved this poem as one of my favourites so I can read it again whenever I or someone I know needs reminding how to live. Thank you Valsa for this therapeutic, beautiful poem.

Beautifully written. Why would we always busy ourselves each and everyday persuing baseless agenda here and there? Why are we chasing rainbow dreams that can never be fulfilled? We are worth than mere troubles like old age. Lets continue to live life in happiness for life is too short for our endless dreams. Mhh... I like this poem. Great job!

No matter you are seventy or seventeen Still spry enough to have frolic and fun Youthful enough to cherish hopes and dreams For life affably beckons and is not done! Dear Valsa, I was planning to become a seventy year old saint on the coming 8th of February at 8 am (Yes number 8 is always eventful for me) but now I have changed my planning I shall celebrate my 17th birthday on that day. All credit all thanks to you. This lovely poem is miraculous.
