A Wasted Promise - Poem by Conor Young

To my lover I make a promise
From one heart to another
It is the promise of change
And a change for the better
A promise to control a bitter rage
To forever act my age
To give and give and never seek praise
To re-grow my hair
To drive romance
To love, and to trust, and to understand
Without question
True love is everlasting
Without it
We are but empty shells
To be crushed by the boot heel of heartbreak
