A Woman. From Elena Rylova Poem by Liza Sud

A Woman. From Elena Rylova

Rating: 5.0

You think that a woman is writing a verse
Above a thick table she's hastily leaning.
But not in the house, in heart humble words,
Even in the kitchen while making a dinner.

Sometimes she is laughing, sometimes she is sad...
and the ringing lines she is threading like gem beads.
Sometimes she's offended, more often forgives,
She bends under burdens, but spirit is high.

Nice. I like it, especially these three lines: Sometimes she is laughing, sometimes she is sad... Sometimes she’s offended, more often forgives, She bends under burdens, but spirit is high. Congratulations for having it selected as poem of the day!

A nice poem, thanks both to the original poetess and the translator poetess. 'Even when our hand is doing very mundane job, our heart writes poetry' - liked this part of Bharat Nayak's comment, to which I heartily agree!

Thanks for choosing such a simple writing for translation to expose the reality of creative woman's social position in family life. Good choice indeed.
