कोई दूसरा मुझको गीत सुनाओ भाई
गलती मुझसे कहाँ हुई बतलाओ भाई
रंजिश वाले गीतों के इन बोलों से
दिल मेरा अफ़सुर्दा सा हो जाता है
आकर कोई गीत नया दे जाओ भाई
इसी मार्ग पर तुम अक्सर आ जाते हो
आते जाते लोगों से कुछ सिक्के पा जाते हो
लोगों को भी इन गीतों में दिलचस्पी है
यहाँ बैठ गीतों को सुनना मेरी मस्ती है
गीत और संगीत से यूँ तो मेरा प्यार नहीं
इन बातों में मुझे कभी दिखता था सार नहीं
पर मेरा विश्वास करो कि अब मैं नहीं अकेला
आशाओं का लगा हुआ है मेरे दिल में मेला
कोई दूसरा मुझको गीत सुनाओ भाई
जिसे सुनूँ तो दिल से निकले हर एक बुराई
संगीत तुम्हारा रोगों का उपचार हो जैसे
जीवन के अंतरद्वंद्वों का उद्धार हो जैसे
आकर कोई गीत नया दे जाओ भाई
इसी मार्ग पर तुम अक्सर आ जाते हो
आते जाते लोगों से कुछ सिक्के पा जाते हो
ऐसा है संगीत तुम्हारा दिल के अंदर
कि सारी पीड़ा हो जाती है छूमन्तर

I feel that this lovely song has a universal appeal. We often come across certain people of this description in our neighborhood too. I have tried to bring in the lyrical touch of the original poem as much as I could in this translation.
