Carousel Of Tears Poem by Bonnie Collins

Carousel Of Tears

Rating: 5.0

Carousel of tears night after lonley night
never stopping and never starting continuing
on the same evolution

Our tunnel of love now seemed to come
to its end, followed by the roller coaster
and not to mention the ferris wheel
of endless hope

Magic flowing in the night air
with the lights aglow, winning
my cupid heart, and sharing
a candy apple we enjoyed
all that the big top could offer

Capturing each and every
excitement well knowing
that the midway will close soon

So after winning the biggest teddy
bear you could find, and taking
all the photos with love written
on our faces

We silently walked as the lights
went out and now I am left with
this carousel of tears.......

dear Bonnie, I read through this poem of yours with gathering sadness, loss is such a fact of life, somehow I sat with you as you penned it and felt what you felt- what more can we ask of a poem? ? well done KS

Your theme of disappointment is perfectly encapsulated by your choice of a carnival theme with it's glitsy 'theatrical' mask and it's underlying sweat and angst. So often it is the comic who suffers from depression. Great piece. love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
