I was just a kid
In love with you
I couldn't sleep
For thinking of you
You never hurt me
You never sent me away
You always loved me
In your own special way
I was a child in madness
Violence and sadness
But you showed me the way
To love one day
I thought I loved you
I thought you loved me
I guess it was
Just the tears of a child
Wanting to be loved
When I laid in bed at night
And heard the pain
Of my mothers plight
I'd close my eyes
And think of you
You never hurt me
You never sent me away
You always loved me
In your own special way
Dreams of a child
Turn into nightmares of a man
Making me want to end
This life of hell
But then I think of you
And the dreams I had of you
And decide to stay another day
Childhood memories lost
Except for the ones
Of knowing you
You never hurt me
You never sent me away
You always loved me
In your own special way
When I lie down and die
I will always know
I at least loved once
Dave, maybe your childhood is not so proud to remember...well i know a plant if we not care since it was small maybe not be tall...but who can deny the future of that plant? who can predict the destiny...When you were fall you know you know that there's a harm, but past is past and future will overlay your history, hide the grey with colorful future...If you not beloved by someone, it just that one and ou still beloved by many as long as you show your heart, wash the pain and give the sincere feeling...protect your soul and your love will stay with everyone...There's no end to try and your future is waiting, forget the past Dave, chase for anew...take this chance to taste and cheer what still left for you.._Unwritten Soul
Excellent poem! I almost felt like I was there- I liked the repetition of 'You never hurt me You never sent me away You always loved me In your own special way' good work! !
Very beautiful poem indeed, this is quite lyrical and has great flow. Thank you for the invitation, I really like this one.
That was phenomenal, so moving. I can feel and hear the heart of this person...Greatness! ! !
Read this after reading your Member Poem of the day - you have a sad story indeed to tell, but we often develop an inner strength through difficult life experiences and such experiences turn us into more understanding and better people. I speak from personal experience myself.
Heavy poetry. Thank you for the comment on my poem by the way!
Wow Dave. Very moving, and very powerful words here! Well done my friend.
that was so moving... it truly touched me and thats the meaning of real poetry. when your feelings can agree with the words and what you read. thank you.
This is why we dream. It many times takes us out of reality but it also gives us something powerful to hold on to. What I love about a dream is no one can take them away from you. When you write about it as you did with this great poem, you lock it down forever. Thank you for sharing it with the world. J. L.

Interesting poem here. Sounds like a story with secrets waiting to be told. May I point out in the first line of the sixth stanza: the word lied seems not to be what you meant. Invite you to read mine - I Cannot Return - Adeline
