Farmers: The End Of The Road Poem by Rani Turton

Farmers: The End Of The Road

Rating: 5.0

He couldn't see
The end of the road
Blinded by misery
What to do, there was nothing to do
Where to go
There was nowhere to go
He had nothing else to barter or sell
Not even his soul.
Loan repayment! What a dream!

For farmers the only way out
Is to cop out
Can anyone hear their plea?
The tears of an anonymous entity?

State by state, region by region
Their suicides have now become legion
Let the world now give them a voice
Instead of their being bereft of choice.

the solution should be executed before it is too late, it has become an everyday news and people have stopped bothering, only writers feel the pain and express in their medium but the selected representatives in the govt.should take measures to curb this, ..very touching and realistic.

True to the state of affairs of farmers, very touching, pledging their soul, heart and at the end empty promises. This poem pained my heart, your lines were strong to hold that effect, i appreciate you for it, a ten for you

Rani... this is very similar in England also. Suicide is known to be prevalent within the farming community but more because of the high number of unmarried farmers who work long lonely hours. An interesting write. HG: -) xx

No one deserves more credit than the hard working farmer. A great tribute, Rani, and truly appreciated. Best Wishes, Marilyn
