From The Casements Of My Land! Poem by Shahzia Batool

From The Casements Of My Land!

Rating: 3.9

The skies are casting threatening look
The weather grim and silent be
The clouds are charged with toxic rain
The fields intend no better crops
The Nature groans for seed of Man
For in some pseudo-structured creeds
Wearing masks and holy shapes
Wolves are playing role of sheep
The holy land is termite-eaten
With hollow, shallow, weakened base
The eyes in tears, the heart in fears,
The hands are raised to God in prayers
Giving up body, mind and soul
Stranger are the snares of life
The pastors have unlearned their oaths
Oblivious of the orphan flock
Holy writs misunderstood, all anagrammatized
Sold in black at high price the tickets to Paradise!

'The kingdom of Heaven is within you' - this is the only way any of us will find peace and contentment, but not an easy task I fear. Well penned Shahzia.

whenever i think on casement of my land , it reminds me a song of Md. Rafi saheb. it reminds me taxila n nalanda. it tought the world to wear cloth. it gave zero to the world. whre malmal of dhaka has gone. one poet of bangladesh wrote you can not spare us while writing 1000 yrs culture of the sub-continent n why we will forgo it. the land where first poetry were scribed . one soul is always dwelling in the sub continent. still here a father can not see straight to her young daughter. still cries of daughter while leaving her father's house on her wedding makes all to weep. some fundamental character of this sub continent can never be deleted.. The brain drain of this land has made other rich. thnx for share.

Yes some are misinterpreting n twisting the holy verses. There rises the ugly head of yazidiat against the husainis. Husainis wil hav to make too many sacrificises but i wish they all ought to practice taqiyyah for the sake of their survival and peace. A powerful poem very impresive literary evaluation. Your fan.
