Graveyard Visitation Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

Graveyard Visitation

Rating: 5.0

I brushed the leaves from the tombstone
And felt it to be cold
My gazing hand sensed the engraving of
Letters and numbers
A hot tear is bounded on them
But was swept by the autumn wind
As the darkened clouds ganged up on the sun
The wind got much colder
I touched the tombstone once more
And kissed passionately goodbye to
The people I was leaving behind
While another tear reached my chin

A lovely poignant write and something many people will feel all over the world, particularly as Christmas fast approaches. A good 5*

There's not that many poems that cut through to me in terms of expressing pain it happens once in awhile but this one really cuts through. It feels like I'm at that grave. Top stuff, human feeling captured in a nutshell
