I'm A Lucky Duck Poem by Practicing Poetess

I'm A Lucky Duck

Rating: 4.9

I'm a lucky duck
Because I have you
To indulge me in my whims
Like buying me dark chocolate M&M's

I'm a lucky duck
Because I don't have
A silent, lonely walk
You walk with me, and we talk

I'm a lucky duck
Because I'm not left
Alone to face my pain
You listen, and hug me again

I'm a lucky duck
Because you understand
No matter what I say
I can't drive you away

I'm a lucky duck
Because you say
My enthusiasm is contagious
And you really enjoy being us

I'm a lucky duck
Because you choose
To spend your time with me
I'm as happy as can be!

I'm a lucky duck
Because I have
A man as good as you
You've made my dreams come true.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This was Ed, my fiance' who passed away. You don't find one like this every day.
That memory is all I have, until someone else comes along in reality to take his place. And they'd have some pretty big shoes to fill (literally) . He was quite a tall man!

Thank you, Ray! I've read some of your poetry, and left you two messages in your inbox on October 7th, which have yet to be picked up or read. Please let me know if the computer goofed and didn't send them or if they got erased accidentally, and I'll try to re-send.

It truly was, Lamar- - he was one in a million! Thank you for reading and commenting. Your name sounds so familiar- - I know I've read your poems before. Please forgive me if I've never commented on one (I'll have to go and check on that!)

I bet he felt the same way. Losing someone you love to death is the hardest thing most humans ever have to deal with. Here, you deal with that loss in a very positive way.

Barry, you have a knack for saying all the right things! I'm on a roll today- - just wrote 3 poems so far, in one day! This one is the happy one about remembering Ed. The following one, Raw Grief, is the dark one- - that's how I felt right after he died. I prefer the happier memory! Although some might think the dark one is actually better poetry. I'll let you decide.
