Infrared Portrait Poem by ONElia AVElar

Infrared Portrait

Rating: 3.6

In the darkness of the night
he paints a portrait in red
Through warmth he delineates
a delicate body shape.
All cold around in black.
Bodies move slowly
like hot pieces of lava,
in many nuances of red.
Illumination radiated by heat,
filtered warily in his head.
He created a portrait
beyond visible present
of a lady in infra-red.

In the darkness one can see only by infra-red rays. This fantasy is interesting. Why is all around dark? Why has one to see anybody into this contest? This one can be a private contest, however, I dont'know, maybe a little of this darkness has to be illuminated. Without infra-red rays.

Great concept and the thought just glows in the dark. Love always sees beyond the visible present...love sees all the way to the heart's core. Always you make visible the intagible presence of love...staining it with your words until it too glows in the mind love Donall Donall

A fascinating poem capable of a myriad of interpretations as previous comments suggest. I see the portrait as the jilted lover's metaphor for love lost burning out of the blackness of regret. Great write. love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

'He created a portrait/beyond visible present/of a lady in infra-red.' recently I was thinking is it probable or possible there is poem without s/he? Why a he create a portrait of a she? Is it love? Platonic or metaphysical? I love John Donne and this poem. My wish in the form of 10.
