Will cats raised in the Philippines, ………..growing up hearing Filipino,
understand cats raised "with" English, in the U.S. [ Nevada (Reno)]?
I've heard of parrots who parrot(?) , in English: "Polly wants a cracker! ".
But what of a parrot which NEVER says a ‘human word'?Is it a slacker?
There are other species of birds which ‘copy' words of YOU and ME,
AND OTHERS, like the Mockingbird, which broadcast ‘non-words' from a tree,
……..like sounds made by car alarms, and chainsaws, OR the ringing of a bell.
BUT, do these ‘mimicking' birds know what they are doing? What the hell!
[ I'll try to return in due time to cats, and the question posed by Jez Brul. ]
Is each avian ‘word-AND-non-word-sound' used …….as a true language tool?
OR are they like musical tunes some humans like to hum, whistle, or sing?
Will "Mankind" unlock all of Nature's mysteries? Will computers, the answers bring?
We know humans do NOT all speak the same language.I think it's a shame.
Even among English speakers, misunderstandings abound.I ‘BLAME' ……..
variations due to changes generational …………and ………..geographical,
resulting in varied accents, pronunciations, and definitions. It is laughable.
So, "DO cats of different backgrounds speak a cat language, Universal? "
I doubt it, if only due to worldwide …..cat-geographical-dispersal.
Furthermore: [ Studies have shown that same-species bird songs vary from ‘here' to ‘there'.
But, to be completely honest, …………………..this poet, Bri, …..doesn't really care! ! ]
OK! !A big ape has learned to communicate with humans, using hand sign language in a zoo.
But I bet the gorilla usually just shows its fangs ……to scare off rivals.I BET it's absolutely TRUE! ! ! !

I guess the universal language would have to be ' body language'. Anyway from throwing sticks, poking tongues, baring fangs to smiles, grins, and laughs, and who knows who copies who this was an Interesting write that brought me a smile or two.10+

Amazing poem, Bri! I have enjoyed. Thank you so much for sharing this poem, inspired by Jez.
I find a lot of logic in this write with beautiful interpretations! ..‘BLAME' …….. variations due to changes generational …………and ………..geographical, resulting in varied accents, pronunciations, and definitions. It is laughable.....I like this piece of work very much! (10)
a wonderful thought provoking poem that I think only Dr Doolittle may answer? ...............well penned Bri
By the way I was amazed to see the performance of a mocking bird in the You tube that imitated all the sounds you have described! This poem greatly differ from your usual style, though this also brings a chuckle!
Here you have dealt with a topic of great scientific and human interest.....! We do not know if animals follow a universal language. Of course as we all know, language varies from country to country and from region to region, but there is a language understood by all.... the language of love, the language of hate, sorrow, fear, joy etc! In the same way cats also may be having a language understood by all of them!
Feelings can be communicated in various ways other than a language. If science has come with an answer about the language/languages used by animals? Animals use sound to communicate.I think one animal of a particular herd if taken to a different herd may find it difficult to follow their language or sound.Body language when we are in different emotional state like fear, love or jolly are basically same and can be understood by anybody. An interesting poem- - Thanks for sharing.
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
How I wish I have the answer for you But the truth is; I have not got a clue I know that they can communicate Not just language; but in ways complicate Thanks Bri.
