Limerick.38. Road Sign Poem by Valsa George

Limerick.38. Road Sign

Rating: 4.5

As Dick was driving his own truck,
His wagon jumped with a jerk
He saw ahead
Men shoveling mud
And a sign that read, “Slow men at work”

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Seeing such road signs, initially we will be confused. Soon we realize, a missing comma has done all mischief! !

A missing comma on the board Suggests intelligence in coma in the head Reminded me of a board some time ago at Air India's office in Bangalore: dhanyavaad na keejiye dhoomrapaan That na going with dhyanyavaad meant: No thanks. Please do smoke. (Instead of Thanks. Please do not smoke.) The pity is that, despite my pointing out to the mistake to those concerned, they preferred to retain that funny board in their office for a long time. They had abundant sense of humour, as much as their Bobby Kooka had, who gave Air India that Maharaja symbol and frequently came out with many an ad packed with punch and pun. Humorous write Ma'm.

Too funny without that comma. It is suited though as they never look as though they could move in a hurry. Thank you for giving me a big smile dear Valsa X
