There was once a poet named Immerick,
Who worked forty days on a 'limerick, '

At the end of which time.
He remarked of his rhyme,

'There's a limp in the limb of my limerick.'

एक शायर मित्र का शुभ नाम था ईमरिक,
चालीस दिन का श्रम, ईनाम था ‘लिमरिक'

इतने सारे दिनों के बाद,
बोला ‘मैं हो गया बरबाद'

एक ओर को झुका हुआ बेदाम था लिमरिक.

i could imagine limerick came from word lima which is five and rikos which is circular line(or going back to beginning) ... if it is true then limerick is from tribe...hehhehehhe
