Love Is Blind - Poem by Michelle Aultman
Growing up people tried to tell me how love was blind but I couldn't understand how something so great could be blind. If love is blind then how do so many people find it and fall into it? How could somebody put all their trust into something that is blind?
Even though it was so hard to understand, I tried my best to find it, to understand how it worked. When I saw you I fell in love and that is when everything fell into place. I didn't see you as others did nor love you the way others did. You lied to me but I loved you too much to see that you were tearing my little heart into a thousand little pieces. I couldn't see that you were treating me like crap and that you were making another girl more important than me. I couldn't see anything but the fact that I loved you and wanted to be apart of your life.
Love really is blind and now I understand it and understand why people do the things they do. Even though it's blind it's still as great as people make it seem. I'm glad you came into my life and allowed me to experience love. Because you have taught me to appreciate things like love that aren't guaranteed to be around forever.
