Mother Earth - Ashcharya Or Astonishment
Mother Earth's awesome personification
The grandest of creations,
The tall snow capped mountains,
Standing straight and absolutely still,
Immovable, solid, firm,
A source of great inspiration and strength!
For the spirited, adventurous and the daring,
A challenge to conquer any heights!
These bold mountaineers climb up,
Undaunted and undeterred,
By the avalanches, glaciers and obstacles,
Or the fear of ever getting lost!
For the evolved souls,
The climb is not just a quest for truth
Or any answer to their queries,
But an affirmation of the Supreme power
The Mother Earth amazes us with her magnanimous figure!
For She is Ashcharya Bhoomi, - The Mother of amazement!
Natya Sastra-an ancient text of India based on Dance and Drama.
Rasa means sentiment, emotion or feeling.
Ashta means eight.
The eight Rasas or Sentiments mentioned are:
Sringara- love, beauty,
Hasya-laughter, ridicule
Karuna - sympathy, compassion
Roudra - anger, fury
Veera -bravery, heroism
Bhayanaka -fear, scare
Bhibatsa-disgustaversion
Adbhuta- wonder, amazement
Mother Nature is ever a source of great wonder and mystery! The lofty mountains, the deep valleys, the churning waters, the curious inhabitants of land and water..... all these keep amusing and astonishing us! When we see all these, we are made to think of the Supreme Power that created everything in Nature! The adventurous spirit in man makes him probe into every mystery and creates in him an urge to subdue every unyielding force! A sure 10
