It might appear out of place but I may not help recalling the torture suffered by the central character of 'A day in the life of Evan Denisovich' (Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn) . That was a day and here it is a night. The end-result, more or less- remains the same which in your words will translate to- Stifling the episode of mania / Crying late into the night. The thread from start to finish doesn't break. Thanks.
