Once Upon A Time(A Lament) Poem by Practicing Poetess

Once Upon A Time(A Lament)

Rating: 5.0

Once upon a time,
Poems used to rhyme.
They had rhythm, cadence, meter
And were pleasing to the reader.

Nowadays, Alas!
Those wondrous days are past.
What became of poets true?
Rhyming works of art are few.

Has the rhyme gotten lost over time? Could be. Great point.

We would hope not. Hats off to traditional poetry, and long may it live! Thank you, Ray, for your comment.: -)

I have to agree with you here. I like writing various forms of poetry, but when trying for a rhyme that suits the piece of writing can add so much time and effort to the complete the work. Yet it is always worth the effort! !

No surprise there, that you enjoyed this poem- - with both of us being writers of the traditional romantic poetry, in a rhyming style. We can appreciate the hard work that goes into creating a rhyming poem. Many thanks for commenting! : -)
