Perfect Betrayal Poem by Asavri Dhillon

Perfect Betrayal

Rating: 4.8

I met a magician
Amidst the fog by a lake
He lived in a cottage
And had a beard- black.
He wore a cloak of my dreams
His hands were soft just like mine
His face was cold like the chilly winds
I heard he kissed girls
And then disappeared.
Now here he was
Right in front of me
I fell in love with him.
Yet my instincts controlled me
He said nothing
But just looked me in the eye
And he won!
My heart was then not mine.
I knew I would regret later
For he was a player
And me?
I was just a little innocent lover.
He never kissed me.
He never disappeared.
There we stood still- talking.
Without uttering a single word.
As every second walked by,
I lost my eye's shine.
My face's glow.
My bones' strength.
My soul's liveliness.
All I had was two dull eyes
One sunken soul
A heart which was in pieces
And bones were equivalent to nothing.
I fell on my knees.
And there he went singing!
'I fell in love with her, people! '

So never meet a magician, there will be no betrayal. Cutest composed creation, dear poetess. Very fascinating to read. An ardent story-poem from a passionate poetess, thank you for sharing

This sounds like a story of toxic love- all encompassing to the point that the woman loses herself and is not strengthened by it, but quite the opposite.

@CarlRoussell Yes, he went singing that he fell in love with her, but after making her lose herself. He sang to hide his betrayal. Love would have never allowed him to make her suffer.

I have reread the poem and yes, your interpretation seems more accurate than my first response

I am not so sure about that, because he went singing that he fell in love with her
