THE 'STATEMENT':
'Writing a poem is not about bringing some words together to create some charming sentences. It's so much deeper than that. Writing poetry is a bridge that allows people to express their feelings and make others live every single word they read. Poetry is to educate people, to lead them away from hate to love, from violence to mercy and pity. Writing poetry is to help this community better understand life and live it more passionately. PoemHunter.com contains an enormous number of famous poems from all over the world, by both classical and modern poets. You can read as many as you want, and also submit your own poems to share your writings with all our poets, members, and visitors.'

MY POETIC COMMENT ON PH's STATEMENT:
I'd much prefer 'some charming sentences', to (some) 'poetry' lines I've read on this site.
But, YES, poetry can and sometimes does go deeper than 'charming', and it's alright......
as far as I'm concerned. Expressing thoughts [and feelings] is 'fine', especially if they're MINE,
but no one makes ME 'live' every single word THEY've written; THERE I do draw the line!
There are many things poetry MAY do, depending on the poet's 'seed' and the reader's 'soil'.
There are some things a poem can NOT accomplish, no matter how much a poet does TOIL.
'Classical' vs. 'Modern'? What is what? 'A rose by any other name would smell as sweet'
is a Shakespeare line idiom ('the names of things do not affect what they really are') . Neat!

The Testimony you rendered to the ‘statement' of PoemHunter is such of beauty, and elegance, is so unique. Thank you Bri, for sharing your take on. Liked it.
I really like the PH statement. And, as always, your witty assessment. Thank you, Bri for that and for your solution to the problem with the mysterious black box.
Yes, the 'black box' problem, which Kim Barney claims he has not encountered. Actually, sometimes the bottom of the 'balck box' is almost touching first line of a poem and I don't know it's the 1st line. ; (
Great analysis and appraisal by you Bri.....Would love to give you 100 for this poetic statement
Only a keen detective like you can find out the mysteries surrounding Poem Hunter.....
I think NO ONE can 'find out' all the mysteries, alas, whatever it means. ;)))))))
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
Like your poem so much better than PoemHunter's statement. Good that author is unknown!
Thanks, Savita, my good friend. Yes, we will have to hunt him/her/'the author' down! ! : )
