Post Card Greetings ….. [friends; Mail (Post Office) : Short Poems (3) : Personal]

Rating: 3.0

Post Card # 1: Sweet Susie

I know a gal whose name is Susie.
Despite all the rumors, she is no floozy.
Neither does she, like some, get boozy.
In fact Paul and I think she's a doozie.

Post Card # 2: Pure Paul

I have a friend who's purely nice.
We often speak, but have met just twice.
Both a sportsman and musician is he.
A better friend, I think, there could not be.

Post Card # 3: Angel, Far Away

My good friend Angel lives far away,
gone back to the island, I think to stay.
And though we seldom 'keep in touch',
I say 'I like you, Angel, ……. VERY MUCH! '

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
i sometimes feel guilty, as a retired postal employee, that i don't support the u.s. postal service more with money....as in buying stamps.
i also have a few friends who i don't see 'anymore' because i moved or they moved (or both) .
recently i decided to send each of them a card; of course i used a fancy first class 'forever' stamp, even though i did not need that much postage.

paul and susie are friends who have mental illness and see each other most days i believe. paul started out as a 'volunteer' friend, as i am a 'Compeer' volunteer who calls a couple of guys my age (each with a mental 'problem') at least once a week to chat. i have spoken to paul, by phone, for about ten years.

angel moved back to puerto rico from new york state. he has depression.

all three of my friends are receiving government support. this week both paul and susie have birthdays, so i sent each a post card with a poem and birthday wishes.

i recently got a call from angel, and i decided to send him a cheerful friendship card. all three cards featured photos of birds. bri :)

There is a man from Redwood Who is often misunderstood With women though he is tame They often put him to blame Though he is a little crazy And his actions, sometimes cheesy He is not a bad guy Whose name is Mr. Bri
