Rain Poem by Akham Nilabirdhwaja Singh

Rain

Rating: 4.8

The rain came.
Eagerly all were waiting for it.
But a torrential fall
Over a few days
rivers, lakes, ponds in spate.
From the pond of the poor farmer
fish swam away to freedom,
caught from the roadside rills
and drains by casting nets,
speared in the courtyards.
Poor farmer!
How can you claim
those fish as yours?
Run, oh farmer,
bring your net
catch as much you can
while running here and there.

We need rain, espicially it is very needful for farmers. Rain brings both happiness and sadness. Dear Akham, you have so nicely depicted this poem with both corners. Thanks for sharing.10

Wonderful poem, It's a great sadness that the world is so unequal as the divide between rich and poor gets bigger.
